I first heard about “The Tuttle Twins” while listening to a podcast on “The Tom Woods Show“. Even though my kids are now in college, the concept intrigued me. The author, Connor Boyack, explained that there was a dearth of good books to explain the concepts of liberty and free markets to kids. Being the entrepreneur, So, Connor saw this as a market opportunity: create an engaging series of books on liberty and free markets that kids in the 5 to 10 years old range can easily grasp.
The Tuttle Twins series takes the twins, Ethan and Emily, through a series of adventures that are adaptions of such liberty classics as:
- “The Law” by Frederic Bastiat
- “The Road to Serfdom” by F. A. Hayek
- “I, Pencil” by Leonard Read
“The Law” is typically one of the first books I give to people when I want to introduce them to concepts of free markets and liberty. It is a short book, in which Bastiat writes in an engaging and often humorous and satirical way.
“I, Pencil” is a short essay by Leonard Read, founder of the Foundation for Economic Education, or FEE. It outlines all the spontaneity which goes into making a simple pencil.
“The Road to Serfdom”, written by Nobel Laureate F.A. Hayek, explains the progression how a free society can degenerate into a totalitarian society. This is what he witnessed in Europe as Hitler and the Nazis ascended into power.
Take these great works, and other topics, and put them into a form that kids can understand and you have the Tuttle Twins series.
Future books in “The Tuttle Twins” series will address topics such as the free market, the non-aggression principle, personal responsibility, protectionism, and a variety of other issues—all in simple terms that children ages 6-10 can easily understand.
If you are a home schooling parent, a grandparent or parent who wants to pass these vital concepts to the next generation to the next generation of children, why not consider getting them books from “Tuttle Twins“ series?
