WLC 136: What are the sins forbidden in the Sixth Commandment?

Answer: The sins forbidden in the Sixth Commandment are, all taking away the life of ourselves1, or of others2, except in case of public justice3, lawful war4, or necessary defense5; the neglecting or withdrawing the lawful and necessary means of preservation of life6; sinful anger7, hatred8, envy9, desire of revenge10; all excessive passions11, distracting cares12; immoderate use of meat, drink13, labor14, and recreations15; provoking words16, oppression17, quarreling18, striking, wounding19, and whatsoever else tends to the destruction of the life of any.20
